Mr Rabbit is now done

This is Mr Rabbit, a relatively easy one compared to say the owl, but still I had to unpick some of it.

The little group is certainly growing.

Advent Calendar

This is an advent calendar using fountation piecing for the trees, free motion quilting and sashing.
It will be for my smallest niece and nephew.

Cushion cover

I made this a while back using foundation piecing... I've finally quilted it and it looks really nice quilted. I hadit unquilted as a cushion cover before but it lacked something and I'm pleased the quilting has added that something.
It is definately a cheerful cushion.

NOW FINISHED ... bright stripy quilt ... the work so far...

This has come together quicker than I thought. In about six hours I can do about 40 blocks, so far it's been less than a weeks work. I have had two previous sizes so far, but they weren't right, so I'm going for a large one. I've done all the blocks - well I think I have, I'll lay it out at my neighbours today - and if it's big enough I'll sew them all together.
Seeing that pile of finished blocks just makes me really excited...
I just love seeing a pile of strips and the posibilities of what they can be.... gorgeous.
I haven't done many bright quilts, they generally tend to be in autumn colours.

I think my favourite quilt of all time (so far) is my yellows, browns, beiges, oranges and reds log cabin with roses quilted all over ... after a few washes it's become really tactile and fab.... and I'm thinking I should make a bigger one now, especially as I didn't know about speed piecing when I made it :0) hmmm next project perhaps... but no I have a wedding gift quilt to make for my God daughters parents and six cushion covers for my sister who's is back from Australia for six weeks next month.

It's now finished and with it's new owner, my neighbour Saphire. I backed it in a lime green fabric with a white swirly pattern on it... I think she was pleased.

This is Saphire (on the right) the recipient of the quilt. It didn't turn out as big as I thought, but I had reached my peak doing that quilt and decided to just finish it off.

I did an all over stippling quilting.

This is the backing fabric - I really like it and hope the shop
has some more - it was really cheap, double width and £3 a metre.

 

The green strip on the top block is what the backing is made from. I keep forgetting to take a picture of the backing.

String quarter'et'

I always have the feeling that I'm lagging behind, I saw this sort of quilt a year or two ago and just thought it looked like a lot of work... but I've decided to have a go.

It's taken just over three hours to make four 12"x12" squares and I think it will need to be at least 6x6 maybe with borders... hmmm will have to wait and see when the other 32 are done.

I'm using grease proof paper for the foundation paper.

 

A couple of update pics -  it's coming along. I think by tonight I will have finished another 12 corner blocks. It's moving quicker than I thought

More update pictures - and it truly goes to show that lightening with photography is everything... the first is taken in my flat and the second in my neighbours house... what a difference.

I'm really pleased with it so far - I think I'll leave it with that number of blocks and do some borders on it to pad it out.

Here it is with the border on, but it has to be taken off again and re-stitches as the squares are all on the bias so it's stretched and it's just wrong, the border has too much fabric in it, strange!
